My projects

AI means everyone can create an app but should they?

Great apps often emerge from team discussions. Relying solely on AI or an individual can stifle that creativity. I plan to document feedback throughout my projects here for critique, turning this section of my site into a dynamic case study.

Making gardening affordable

Context

Gardening is often praised for its benefits to mental health, creativity, and physical activity, while the repetitive tasks can calm the mind. However, each garden has its challenges and many people end up spending too much money and feeling frustrated by their lack of results.

Research has shown gardening apps can be costly, ranging from £30 to £100, and are often as generic as gardening books. AI is better but often skips the important details. I aim to create an experience that considers time, budget, garden type, and patience for results.

Gen Z's job prospects

Context

I knew Gen Z were going to have a hard time finding a job. I mentor people that do now and I read about it often. When a family friend spoke about their talented son who had just finished his degree and could not find a role after almost 12 months, severely down because of it, it felt more sad.

Only 7% of his year was expected to find a role, yet the university is now increasing places the following year by 45%. There are two directions for my solution: gathering data to help Gen Z make more informed choices, and connecting people with great ideas to trained graduates so they get real experience.

An app for tired tech women

Context

I have a lot of very talented senior women friends who work in tech. The interesting common denominator is they are all trying to plan their exit. What stops them? The monetary fear.

Reading reports like Lean In's Women in the Workplace, I am not surprised there is less ambition to get promoted and more senior women are getting burned out. The problem to solve: how do you support women in the workplace in a lightweight and evidence-backed way?
